YABATECH SET TO GET NEW RECTOR AS ENGR. OBAFEMI OMOKUNGBE BOWS OUT OF SERVICE

Nigerian First Higher Education Institution, Yabatech sets to get a new rector as Engr. Obafemi bows out of office officially on Sunday, January 29th, 2023. Omokungbe, an engineer, assumed office as the rector of YABATECH on March 8, 2018 after a rigorous transparent process.

He joined the service of the college as Lecturer III in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department, School of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources in 2009.

“Omokungbe was also the head, Department of Civil Engineering from 2007 to 2009 and was a one-time president, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (YABATECH branch).

“He took over from an acting rector at the time, Dr (Mrs) Taiwo Oyelola. She was in the acting capacity from Dec. 10, 2017 to March 5, 2018,’’ said Ejiofor in the statement.

The climax of the ceremony was held on Friday, January 27th, 2023 with a procession of a guard of honor by the Army Cadets and Man O’ war who further escorted the dignitaries to the Auditorium where the ceremony was held properly.

In attendance of the ceremony were great and mighty dignitaries like; Chairman of the Governing Council, Prince Lateef, Representative of the Able Governor of Ondo State, Immediate past rector of Ilaro, Representatives of Bolamak Engineering Firm Classmates of the Rector in Secondary School, Rector’s Coursemates in Yabatech and so many others.

Members of Academic Board, Staffs and Students also graced the ceremony and congratulated the Rector on the successful completion of his five years tenure.
