Afrikanwatch Media Honours Omokungbe

The Rector, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe recently received the Afrikanwatch Gold Merit Award, as the Afrikanwatch Man of the Year for his immense contribution to the growth and development of Yabatech.
In his response to the award, Omokungbe said “the award presented to me is a challenge for me to do more. I want to implore everyone irrespective of religion, ethnicity or belief to put all hands on deck so that we can achieve success together.”

Others beneficiaries of the award are: Prof. Sola Fosudo, Afrikanwatch Philantropist and Personality of the Year, Prof. Emeritus (Capt.) Oloruntoba Timothy, Outstanding Senior Legal Scholar and Arbitrator of the Year, Barr. Olorogun Benson Ndakara, and Dr. Etobum Samson, Afrikanwatch Most Resourceful Community Leader of the Year, Controller of prison, Lagos State Tunde Ladipo, Afrikanwatch Most Productive Security Expert of the Year, Dr. Samson Fasanmi, Afrikanwatch Dynamic Researcher and Orator of the year. The rest are Dr. Wahab Ademola Azeez for his strategic contribution to technical education and research.

Speaking at the lecture titled, ”Nigerians where do we go from here after 58 years of independence,” the editor in chief Afrikanwatch Media, Mr. Mark Ogu said that Afrikanwatch media is an online outfit which specializes more on investigative and interpretative journalism within and beyond the affairs of the country. He added that the reason for the selection of the theme is based on the need for all Nigerians to assess themselves and make necessary adjustments where needed. He urged Nigerian to come together as one Nigeria and see how we can build the nation.

One of the beneficiaries, Dr. Fasanmi noted that he was delighted to be among those selected for the award, which was specifically created to celebrate Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in the society. He advised Nigerians out there especially the youths to be patient towards achieving success, he explained that success is not a sudden phenomenon but requires a gradual process. He therefore admonished youths to start small, be committed, sincere and on the long run, they would be celebrated by everyone.

Head of Public Relations, Yabatech, Mr. Joe Ejiofor who reviewed the memoir described it as a collector’s item that should find a befitting place on the library shelves of our tertiary institutions.
