YABATECH MATRICULATES 14,278 STUDENTS, WARNS AGAINST VICES

No less than 14,278 student s distributed across 81 courses matriculated in Yaba College of Technology for the 2023/2024 academic session according to the Rector, Dr. Engr Abdul Adedotun Ibraheem.

Dr. Abdul said that out of 23,948 candidates that applied for both full and part-time programmes, 4,407 candidates were offered admission to National Diploma (ND) Full-time Programmes. Two thousand, seven hundred and fifty-seven (2,757) candidates were admitted into full time HND Programmes while 7,114 candidates were admitted for both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma part-time programmes.

 The Rector added that out of 552 candidates that applied for B.Sc. (Ed) full[1]time and part-time programmes, only 509 were offered admission. The College, Dr Abdul said, also runs PGD Programme. Seven candidates applied for the programme but only 6 were offered admission.

While conducting the matriculation, Dr. Abdul announced to the students that the matriculation oath signified that they have all accepted to abide by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of students in the College. He said they must therefore shun all forms of anti-social activities such as cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractices , sexual misbehavior and other unruly behaviours. “You must at all times ensure that you abide by this oath,” he warned.

He added that they would be introduced to various structures, systems, rules and regulations in the College so that they get to know the dos and don'ts of the College in full. He emphasized that all students must be disciplined in appearance as they would be addressed the way they dress. He warned that it was illegal to operate a secret society or belong to a banned society and any contravention of the regulation would result in expulsion and possible criminal prosecution. The Rector called on the parents to counsel their children to be of good behaviour throughout their stay in the College.
