For his exceptional academic trailblazing, vast managerial acumen and shrewd administrative capabilities, the Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management and Politics (Ghana) has conferred its prestigious lifetime Fellowship on the Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe.

Engr. Omokungbe was decorated at a brief induction ceremony conducted by the Institute’s President, Mr. Richard Kpoku at the College’s Council Chamber on Friday.

Mr Kpoku noted that the Advisory Board and Governing Council of the Institute also recognized and considered Omokungbe’s proven integrity and selfless service as a prerequisite for his selection into the 2021 Fellowship Hall of Fame.

“We are here on this state visit on behalf of the Advisory Board and Governing Council of this chartered institute to confer and honour one of Nigeria’s high flying intellectual professionals, a renowned academic of international repute and a most patriotic nation builder, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe with a prestigious lifetime Fellowship recognition award following his impressive and enviable track records as a phenomenal, accomplished public service personality and worthy statesman who has made and still making tremendous contributions toward national development for the progress, peace and unity of one Nigeria.

“After carefully going through your industrious pedigree of service to Nigeria, we salute your leadership tenacity as a greatly revered Pan-Africanist and Global resource personality, most importantly, is the fact that your name and office has never been found wanting in any financial malpractices, abuse of office, indictment or misconduct of any kind, your incorruptible track records of accomplishments are monumental and unprecedented in Nigeria’s public service history. All these indices attest to the reasons why you have been specially recognized by our institute.

“It is our firm belief that as a Fellow of this institute, you will impact positively your wealth of uncommon leadership successes, challenges and also cross-fertilize developmental ideas/policies with other notable corporate technocrats, public servants, professionals and veteran state persons to move the African Continent forward,” Kpoku said.

He urged Engr. Omokungbe to see this milestone recognition as motivation to re-dedicate himself and continue with the good service to the nation and humanity in general which he had always been known for.

In his acceptance remarks, Engr. Omokungbe expressed delight to be recognized even outside the country for the little he was doing.

“I will not change. I will continue to uphold the truth I am known for both here and when I’m out of office,” he remarked.

He thanked the principal officers of the college for their support and asked them to work together in order to do more.

Also at the event were the management and staff of the college.
