Yabatech Management To Support Nacon On Nursing Education

In a bid to promote higher learning in Nigeria, The Rector, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe, has said the institution will provide accreditation support to the Nigerian Army College of Nursing, NACON on its nursing education programme.

Nursing education is a certificate program run by NACON in nursing and mid- wifery to all and sundry in the Nigerian Forces, paramilitaries and by extension, non- military personnel.

According to the Rector, the institution with vast and array of experiences in tertiary education have met global best practice and it has become necessary to provide guidelines as well as interpret the requirements of National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) on the program.

He made this known when a three - man delegation of NACON, led by the commandant, Brig. Gen. Agata Onovo paid him a courtesy visit on his appointment as the Rector of the institution.

The commandant stated that the institute came to establish an official relationship with Yabatech and also seek areas of partnership with the College.

Onovo explained the partnership is necessary because the Nigerian Army has approved the intake of qualified personnel from all walks of life for its nursing and mid- wifery programme and that the institute awaits NBTE accreditation.

‘Yabatech is an NBTE approved institution and experienced in the business of higher education. We do not want to stumble as NACON prepares for take-off, hence, the need to seek Yabatech for assistance, she said.
