YABATECH SWEARS IN STUDENTS UNION BODY NEW EXCO

In a ceremony filled with optimism and promise, the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) sworn in the new executive, legislative and judiciary bodies of the college Student's Union Body for the 2023/2024 academic session.



The inauguration ceremony which was held at the Yusuf Grillo  Auditorium event, marked a significant moment for both the institution and its student body, as a new era of leadership and service was ushered in.



The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Arc. Lawal, in his welcome address urged the students to think critically and act responsibly.



He emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and fostering a culture of inclusivity within the union for a successful administration.



Arc. Lawal also encouraged the newly elected officers to extend a hand of friendship to their opponents, reminding them that "nothing in life is permanent."



The Dean, Students Affairs, Alhaji Alaba Olalekan, commended the outgoing student leaders for their dedication and cooperation during their tenure.



He expressed confidence in the ability of the new executives to lead with integrity and commitment judging from the array of quality students leaders that were carefully elected.



Barrister Funmi Dada and Mrs. Adeola Temitayo-Ojo, the legal officers from the college legal department administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials, symbolizing their commitment to uphold the principles of the college and the Student’s Union body constitution.



 In his inaugural address, the newly elected president of the Union, Comrade Morakinyo Olaolu Sola, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the union's objectives.



 He unveiled plans to launch a student union website, aimed at providing a platform for information dissemination and grievance redresser.



He announced initiatives such as the establishment of Wi-Fi facilities on campus, the creation of a "SUG Garden" to honor past students union leaders of the institution and the implementation of a work-study scheme to support students academic pursuits.



The Rector of Yabatech, Dr. Engr Ibraheem Abdul, in his remarks, expressed pride in the institution's students and pledged his support for their endeavors.



He highlighted various initiatives, including partnerships with international organizations and opportunities for student exchange programs aimed at enhancing the college's academic excellence and global relevance.



The Rector reiterated the importance of leadership with integrity and urged the newly elected executives to prioritize the welfare of their fellow students.



He underscored the role of student leaders as ambassadors of the college and called upon them to demonstrate resilience and responsibility in their duties.



With a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm, the Yabatech SUG embarks on its journey to champion the interests of students and uphold the legacy of excellence that defines the institution; Dr. Abdul averred.
