Dr. OKOLIE Nwabueze Peter is the 7th Dean of the School of Technology. He joined the service of Yaba College of technology in the year 1992. Before assuming the position of Dean, School of Technology, he has served in various administrative capacities, such as Head of department, SIWES Coordinator, Chairman and member of various committees, Part-Time Programme Coordinator, IT Officer, Class Adviser, Project and Seminar Coordinator etc. He is a Food Microbiology and Food Safety Expert, Teacher, Educationist and Consultant.
His academic qualifications include: HND (Biochemistry), PGD (Food and Industrial Microbiology), M.Tech (Food and Industrial Microbiology), and Ph.D (Food Microbiology). He is a staunch member of Nigeria Institute of Food Science and Technology (MNIFST); Society for Food Microbiology (MSFAM); Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (MNISLT)
His research interest focuses on Food Microbiology, Bio-degradable fuel, Food Safety. He has presented and published more than 50 academic papers in local and international conferences and reputable journals. He has well over two decades of work experience in both industry and academia. He has authored standard textbooks.
He is a goal getter and an achiever. He attracted a grant of 10 million naira as HOD (Food Technology) to renovate a research laboratory to a State-of-the-Art standard, and over 30 Million to improve the state of the Food Technology Bakery, various equipment and furniture donations etc. As Dean, School of Technology, from March 2019, within one year plus, he is being the first in the history of the College to solely attracted a donation of a Brand New HIACE bus (in September 2019). He also initiated the donations of Pieces of Glassware, furniture, Equipment worth Millions of naira. Dr. Okolie brought in company to renovate completely all the classrooms in Foodteh New Building. The classrooms are equipped with air conditioners, automatic remote driven projectors and screen and well-made furniture for comfort and learning. He is still going to do more by God’s special grace. His motto is “TOGRTHER WE CAN DO MORE”.
