The Rector, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Engr. Femi Omokungbe has refuted claims of ethnic favoritism alleged to be ongoing in the College.

He hinted while addressing members of staff on his vision and mission towards elevating the institution, seeks collaborative efforts among Yabatech community, maintaining that there is need for us to see ourselves as one Nigeria if we are to achieve the College set objectives.

“I cannot pretend not to be aware of the various favoritism being alleged among the College staff. My fellow colleagues and friends, I solicit for your support and cooperation because there is still much work to be done. The past leaders had played their bits, let us work together to bring the college at par with other global institutions’’.

“My vision is to make this college the ultimate tertiary institution in technical education, an institution of choice and a center of academic and technical excellence in Africa where quality and self-reliant middle and high level manpower would be trained for the nation”, he said.

Engr. Omokungbe explained that the achievement of the college’s set vision and mission will be achieved through Academic Improvement and Development (AID), Infrastructural Development (Epe) and the upgrading of existing structures (Yaba), welfare of staff, students and retirees and the expansion of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base of the College bearing in mind that every staff is a participant.

He urged all hands to be on deck for the days ahead with the Management stressing strict compliance to the rule of law guiding the affairs of the college and that fairness, equity and justice as well as diligence and effective workforce are expected from all categories of staff.
